Zojirushi EB-CC15 indoor electric grill

The Zojirushi EB-CC15 indoor electric grill is a relatively compact countertop grilling appliance that mimics an outdoor grilling experience. It consists of a 12.25x18.12-inch heavy plastic cool-touch base, a 9.5x 2.75-inch nonstick grilling surface, a shallow stainless steel drip pan and a removable power cord with variable heat control dial. The unit's built-in heating element delivers 1,300 watts of power.
Assembly of the grill was accomplished in four easy steps: place the lightweight base on the counter, insert drip pan, position grill plate and attach temperature probe. The heavy nonstick aluminum alloy grill plate presents a stark contrast to the lightweight base. The assembled grill stands just less than 3 inches tall and provides a safe, sturdy grilling surface.
The recommended preheat time for the EB-CC15 is 8-10 minutes to reach the highest temperature setting. A temperature indicator light cycles on and off during use. The variable control dial has three settings: low, medium and high, with temperatures ranging between 176 and 410 degrees Fahrenheit. Although it is impossible to set an exact temperature, the highest setting works well for most grilling tasks, from chicken or steak to hamburger patties, and delivers traditional sear marks as it cooks foods to perfection. The high setting proved a bit too hot for grilling delicate seafood and vegetables, as well as any foods coated in a thick barbecue or tangy sauce. For those foods, you should reduce the heat to medium-high and turn the foods frequently.
We noticed that the grill cooked with little to no smoke and the nonstick cooking surface released foods easily. The slotted grilling plate lets excess grease and fats drip through where they collect on the drip tray. The resulting meals are lower in fat and healthier. The aluminum cooking plate delivers heat to every inch of the grill so there are no hot spots, which can result in uneven cooking.
We were quite pleased with the fast, efficient cooking delivered by the Zojirushi EB-CC15. The grill can accommodate about four to six medium chicken breasts, hamburgers or pork chops. Although the EB-CC15 is a bit smaller than some other models, you'll find the quick, even heating ideal for smaller batches. The grill offers about 121 square inches of usable cooking space.
Cleanup of the grill is a simple matter of rubbing the grill with a damp cloth and brushing any baked-on particles away. The drip tray and plastic base are dishwasher safe, but also clean easily in hot, soapy water.
