Since Yard Machines models are typically designed to be functional and affordable, don't expect this machine to be a heavy-duty workhorse. As an efficient and easy-to-operate mower for normal residential conditions, however, the 13RL771H029 is definitely worth a closer look.

Unlike some of the company's other budget minded models, the 13RL771H029 comes equipped with a fairly strong engine; its 20-hp Briggs & Stratton Intek engine is the perfect size for a light-duty mower and provides good power on moderate hills. The top speed that this engine provides -- about 5.5 mph -- is normal for mowers of this size. Couple this engine with this machine's tripled-bladed 46-inch cutting deck, which is adjustable in cutting height from 1.5 to 4 inches, and you have a mower that is suited to cutting yards that are 1 to 2 acres in size; the size of the smallish 1.5-gallon fuel tank also suggests that this tractor is best utilized in residential settings. At all height settings, the cutting deck gives an even cut on normal surfaces. When used as a side-discharge mower, the triple blade system does a good job by not spitting out clumps, even in higher-growth yards. On more rugged terrain, the cutting deck has trouble staying even and produces a choppy cut the mower is bounced around. The 13RL771H029 does a fine job knocking out moderate patches of weeds or growth, as long as the terrain isn't too bumpy or too steep.
