Yamaha YST-SW015 subwoofer
Date Published: 1/11/08
The YST-SW015 is the "baby" in Yamaha's current lineup of subwoofers. Rated at 120 watts, its amplifier cannot compete with the 1,000-watt monster that is Yamaha's 2005 flagship YST-SW1500, but the YST-SW015 will still pump out some powerful, and musical, low-end sound.
Employing a modest down-firing 6-1/2-inch spruce cone driver mounted in a ported cabinet, the YST-SW015 has an output rated down to 30Hz. Features include an automatic power on/off with an override switch, selectable bass effect modes, a phase reverse switch and a high-cut filter variable from 50Hz to 150Hz. The slope is fixed at -24dB/octave; this steep slope helps to ensure that higher frequencies will not muddy the bass response.
The subwoofer is magnetically shielded to prevent video interference. While it will not cause any earthquakes or building collapses, the YST-SW015 will satisfactorily replace the inadequate subwoofers often found in all-in-one systems and provide good bass output for movies or music playback.Warranty
