The Yamaha DTX-1100 is ideal for anyone seeking a home theater system with universal disc playback capabilities. In fact, the DTX-1100 can do just about everything except walk your dog, and it comes at a very reasonable price.
In addition to progressive scan DVD-Video playback, the DTX-1100 is compatible with the multichannel high-resolution audio formats of DVD-Audio and SACD. The disc player can also handle DVD+R/RW, DVD-R/RW, DVD+R DL (Dual Layer), VCD, audio CD and CD-R/RW, as well as MP3, WMA, DivX and JPEG files saved to recordable CD or DVD. In addition, the DTX-1100 is XM Satellite Radio-ready. All you need to do to hear XM's 170-plus channels of digital radio is sign up for a subscription and add an optional Connect and Play antenna.
The DTX-1100's separate A/V receiver provides 120 watts to each of the five channels, and the powered subwoofer has its own 100-watt amplifier. There is integrated processing for Dolby Digital, Dolby Pro Logic II, Dolby Digital ES, DTS, DTS Neo:6 and DTS 96/24. There are one coaxial and two optical digital audio inputs, and the DTX-1100 has a front-panel composite video input for the quick connection of a camcorder or video game console.
The matching satellite speakers have a two-way design, each employing a 2-1/2-inch woofer and a 1/2-inch dome tweeter. The center channel uses a pair of the 2-1/2-inch woofers with the same 1/2-inch tweeter. The powered subwoofer has an 6-1/2-inch driver. While the bass response can be lacking in certain situations, in general this system has a balanced tone that brings out the details of DVD-Audio and SACD, as well as DVD movie soundtracks.
With its excellent disc compatibility and XM readiness, the DTX-1100 home theater system is a music lover's dream.
