Worx WG103 6-amp trimmer

With its smart, ergonomic design, user-friendly touches and powerful motor, the Worx WG103 electric string trimmer is an impressive choice for light to moderate trimming. So impressive, in fact, that it's earned Consumer Guide's Best Buy designation.
This model takes everything that's right about Worx's less powerful WG102 trimmer and adds some more oomph -- for just 10 bucks more. The 6-amp motor is a big upgrade from the smaller model, and provides more than enough power to zip through most weeds and grass. The other upgrade is just as notable: The WG103 electric string trimmer features an impressive 15-inch cutting width, which lets you clear weeds quickly and easily.
Worx tools are designed with ergonomics in mind, with an emphasis on adjustable grips and handles to maximize comfort and control and cut down on aches and pains -- and this model is no exception. The cool handle-release bar lets you adjust the grip with just a few fingers, and the telescoping shaft makes it easy to accommodate a wide variety of user heights and postures. The shaft also tilts up to 90 degrees, letting you position the cutting head to accommodate hard-to-reach areas without straining or stretching.
It's a versatile tool, and can be converted into a slick walk-behind edger by simply turning the handle and the trimming head. The large, attached wheels are stable enough to effectively guide the edger as it manicures around sidewalks or driveways. This model uses a so-so string replacement system. It's not a big negative; we just wish Worx would have come up with a high-tech take on line replacement to match the other innovative features on the tool.
The Worx WG103 electric string trimmer comes with a foldable spacer guard to help protect delicate flowers and a 20-inch pigtail cord, which makes it easier to secure it to an extension cord. Its warranty covers 2-year consumer or light-duty trade use.
Pros: Ergonomic and adjustable design, versatility
Cons: Not designed for heavy-duty trimming, standard spool-replacement system
