Whirlpool GEW9878P electric dryer

If you need a good, affordable dryer more than you need a stylish, expensive one, consider the traditional Whirlpool GEW9878P. It is an ordinary dryer in gas (model GGW9878P) or electric, that's well featured, convenient, and yet moderately priced.
It takes advantage of recent technology without stepping into new and uncharted waters. In this case the recent technology is the sensor--or in Whirlpool terminology, the Senseon drying system. This sensor is a tried and true technology that works to speed drying while protecting the clothing from damaging excess heat. The system works by measuring the moisture, temperature of the air, and dryness of clothing in the drum. Adjustments are then automatically made to ensure the optimal drying of each load.
Using this sensor technology, it's possible to speed the drying times enough to match the wash times for loads of up to 9 pounds. Larger loads can still be dried--they simply take a longer time than the wash load. Other features include a delicate dry setting for knits and other sensitive fabrics, and an optional 120 minute wrinkle shield mode that cycles the tumbling motion on and off automatically without adding heat.
Seven automatic cycles on the Whirlpool GEW9878P offer a full range of settings for most drying needs. The drop down door opens wide for easy access and an interior light makes it easy to find even that last sock.
Pros: Affordable sensor-equipped dryer that can match dryer times to wash times
Cons: Accelerated drying times work only for loads less than 9 pounds
