Viper 560XV Combination Remote Start Security System
Date Published: 1/17/08The Viper 560XV is full-featured remote start system in addition to a fully-functional security system. It not only starts your vehicle remotely, but it also protects it from thieves.
We found the install process to be in-depth and involved. All things considered, we strongly recommend leaving this install job to the pros. When examining the system for the first time, the two 4-button remotes really caught our attention. Many systems feature bulky remotes that weigh down key chains and pockets. The Viper 560XV's remotes are compact and light. As for their functionality, the remotes come programmed with a standard configuration. However, if you're looking for a special set up, they can be custom programmed by an authorized dealer. Better yet, using a feature known as Owner Recognition, the dealer can program up to four transmitters to function completely separate from each other. That means with just one system, you can have four completely different set ups.
Starting the vehicle remotely was simple. We pressed the designated remote start button on the transmitter, two times in rapid succession, and the vehicle started up. We were even able to activate the rear-window defogger using the remote.
Arming the system's security alarm was easy as well. We pressed the active arming button on the transmitter. Next we heard a chirp and the parking lights on the vehicle flashed, signaling to us that the security system had been activated.
In all, the 560XV offers many standard features, in addition to the ability to expand upon the basic set up. We think its versatile nature is its most appealing feature. We recommend the Viper 560XV to those seeking customized performance and the ability to expand upon a system with ease. Just remember, the optional features, of which there are many, are available for an additional charge.
Pros: Built-in security system, small remotes, fully customizable
Cons: Many features require an additional charge
