The heating element is mounted inside a 4mm-thick encapsulated aluminum base, which distributes heat evenly throughout the cooking surface. The nonstick Excalibur cooking surface lets you prepare meals with a minimum amount of oil, for healthy, low-fat cooking.

This unit offers 1500 watts of cooking power and features a removable temperature probe with adjustable settings, from 200 to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. This feature is especially useful when frying chicken as it eliminates the need to monitor oil temperature with a separate thermometer. A "ready-light" lets you know when the skillet is heated to your desired temperature.

Two heavy cast stainless-steel loop-style handles are secured by professional stainless-steel riveting on either side of the pan. The open design of the handles help them to stay cool even when cooking several batches of food, such as fried chicken, over a period of several hours.

We liked the fact that, once the plug is detached, the skillet is dishwasher safe and can be immersed in water for easier cleanup. The tempered glass lid, also dishwasher safe, allows for you to keep an eye on food while it cooks without opening the lid.
