The TRU9488 is a quality cordless system, but what really sets it apart from the field is the ability to add up to 10 cordless handsets. Initially included are a corded desktop phone and a cordless handset that operates on the 5.8GHz frequency (so you don't have to worry about interfering with Wi-Fi transmissions). If you choose to expand the system, each handset can access the 15-minute digital answering machine as well as a 100-contact phonebook that allows for two fields number fields. And, to keep the handsets straight, you can name them on the banner display.

Both the corded base station and the handsets offer speakerphones, and if you want to talk between extensions, you can use the DirectLink radio feature. Call clarity for phone calls is good and range is acceptable, although occasional breakups occurred outside of a 50-feet range. Other features include: room monitor, 20 ringer choices, call transfer, 4-way conferencing, memo recording, and single or entire phonebook entry transfer. Overall, this is a very versatile system that offers reliable performance.
