Uniden CEZAI998 Large-Button Cordless/Corded Phone
Date Published: 12/15/06
The CEZAI998 phone system from Uniden offers a lot of versatility and is extremely well suited for people with visual and/or hearing impairments. Both the corded phone and the cordless handset have large backlit buttons for easier dialing as well as sizeable Caller ID screens for better viewing. Meanwhile, incoming calls are notified visually and the ringer can be increased to loud volumes. Otherwise, the phone includes a 15-minute digital answering machine, a 50-entry Caller ID log, and a 14-number phonebook (then on the handset and four on the base). The phone also uses 5.8GHz transmissions, so you don't have to worry about interference with Wi-Fi networks.
Though people with impairments and the elderly were clearly in mind when this phone was designed, the features are not overblown to the point of making it undesirable to the average consumer. Overall, this is a solid setup with good performance.
Pros: large buttons, sizeable Caller ID, visual alert, corded/cordless
Cons: minimal features
