Trek Transit Deluxe bicycle trailer
Date Published: 2/6/08
Trek is reluctant to be outdone by anyone in any product category, and the Transit bicycle trailer is proof that product managers in Waterloo, Wisconsin, have very sharp pencils. What sets the Transit apart from other higher-quality, higher-priced trailers is that there’s nothing else to buy. The jogger kit is included. This is not to be confused with "stroller" kits with their aimlessly wandering front wheels. You can actually run at a good clip while guiding the Transit in its jogger mode. The included jogger kit makes the Transit a very good value.
The Trek is also more dignified in appearance than some of the competition, with attractive, dignified darker colors. (Don’t worry, it will still be easy to notice out on the road.) Lavish interior appointments include a padded seat; two mesh compartments for water, snacks, or toys; inner tubes pre-treated with Sime brand tire sealant for flat protection; a mesh screen or clear plastic rain cover; a large compartment in back for your picnic lunch; and a very well made parking brake.
Pros: All the good trailer features, spiffy appearance, comes with a jogger kit (not to be confused with the poorer-performing stroller kit). Resale value makes total ownership cost low. Cons: High initial cost.
