Toshiba 46HM95 46-inch DLP HDTV
Date Published: 10/26/07
The 46HM95 is a 46-inch DLP HDTV from Toshiba that has a wide-format screen, high-performance features, and an impressive array of connectivity options to make it the center of a home theater system. The silver cabinet has stereo speakers on either side of the black-framed screen, and the 46HM95 will fit into relatively small spaces thanks to its slim profile and tabletop design.
Internal ATSC/QAM tuners make direct reception of HD possible over the air or through cable, and twin tuners enable you to enjoy split-screen or nine-window POP viewing of both HD and standard content. The digital light processing engine displays all content at 720p, and digital noise reduction, black-level expansion, and a 3-D Y/C digital comb filter with vertical contour correction ensure a rich, sharp picture.
The separate woofers and tweeters produce a total of 40 watts of audio output, and audio options include simulated surround sound, bass tone enhancement, and treble clarification. A CableCARD slot can potentially eliminate the need for a separate cable box, and a media slot makes it possible to view JPEG stored on any of five memory card formats. Other useful features include memory for the audio and video settings for each input, a two-level mute, and access to the TV Guide On-Screen Interactive Program Guide.
The 46HM95 has a generous input selection that includes a pair of RF inputs, three composite video inputs, three S-video inputs, two HD component video inputs, two HDMI digital-to-digital inputs, and two FireWire (IEEE 1394) ports. Outputs include a fixed/variable audio output, an optical digital audio output, and two TheaterLink IR outputs. The universal remote can manage up to six devices with direct access buttons.
