Toshiba's 20HL85 is a 20-inch HD-ready widescreen LCD TV that can double as a computer monitor, display progressive scan DVD, and fit into any space with ease. The compact silver cabinet includes stereo speakers tucked in below the screen, and it comes with a stand that is easily removable for mounting the set on the wall (additional hardware is required).

The 1,366X768 native resolution is great for high-definition programming, which displays at 720p (a separate HD receiver is required), but it also offers crisp, highly detailed images when viewing standard content, computer images, and DVD. The 20HL85 sports a 3-D Y/C digital comb filter to reduce or eliminate dot crawl and rainbow effects, and movies are enhanced with 3:2 pulldown conversion.

The internal speakers produce 10 total watts of output, and audio options include simulated surround sound and volume leveling to reduce fluctuations between commercials and programs. Convenience features include on and sleep timers, a game timer, channel and video input labeling, and five picture formats for fitting the picture to the screen.

The inputs will easily accommodate a range of devices, with a choice of RF, audio/video, S-video, HD component video, VGA 15-pin D-sub (PC), and HDMI inputs on the rear panel, along with front access to audio/video and headphone jacks. Audio outputs are also available for use with additional speakers. The 20HL85's universal remote control is equipped for managing up to four associated devices, and the glowing buttons are very handy in the dark.
