Toro TimeCutter ZX480 zero-turning-radius riding mower
Date Published: 11/21/08
The TimeCutter ZX480 is powered by a Toro 20-horsepower (Briggs & Stratton) Intek OHV twin cylinder engine with a spin-on oil filter and driven by dual hydrostatic transmissions with integrated charge pumps. There's not as much rear protection for the engine as you might want, however. The vulnerable front edge of the 48-inch deck is reinforced with a steel rod. Oddly, the also vulnerable left side has no added protection.
Operating controls (choke, throttle, electronic PTO clutch, key start) are easily reached. A wash-out port at the top of the 48-inch deck has a quick-connect hose fitting that lets you easily keep the underside clean for maximum efficiency. Cleaning the underside of the deck makes a mess, so you'll want an out-of-the-way place (with a hose); it is recommended that you clean it after each use before the material crusts on. The discharge chute is rubber so you can trim closer to trees and structures without fear of damage. The seat is adjustable (tilt it forward and loosen thumbscrews).
