With power, performance and premium features in a user-friendly design, the Toro Recycler 20068 self-propelled gas mower is a great package at a great price. When it comes to walk-behind mowers, higher torque translates to more power, and more power results in a cleaner and more even cut. The power behind this machine is a 6.75-foot-pound gross torque Briggs & Stratton ReadyStart engine. If pulling a recoil starter isn't your thing -- even if it is just once or twice -- the electric starter will get your motor running with just a turn of a key.
One feature that we enjoy is Toro's Personal Pace variable rear-wheel drive system. Personal Pace gives you complete and effortless control by automatically adjusting the speed of the mower to your pace (up to 4.8 mph). Not only does it work well, it's also extremely easy to use. There's no need to constantly grip an extra handle or push a lever when you want to change speeds; all you do is place your hands on the handlebar and start walking. We feel it's one of the best self-propel systems on the market.
The Recycler's 3-in-1 bagging system provides straightforward simplicity when switching from bagging to mulching. A cradle-shaped connection makes it easy to remove and reattach the bag; you simply set the bag in place and you're good to go. Should you decide to mulch instead, an integrated mulch plug drops into place when the rear door is shut and the bag is removed. Of course, you always have the option to send grass clipping out of a side chute.
If you're like us, then you hate the hassle of having to turn off and restart the mower ever time we need to clear the mowing path or empty the bag. With the Blade Override System, the motor blade stops turning while the engine continues to run any time you release the handle. This way, you don't need to restart the engine when you're ready to resume mowing; just grab the handle and go.
Another handy feature that can actually improve cutting performance is the washout port that's found on the Recycler 20068. Simply attach a hose to this port and turn on the hose, and the combination of water pressure and the whirling blade work to keep the underside of the deck grass-free. The wide 22-inch deck design and unique front-throw chamber further ensure a great quality of cut.
Any way you cut it, the Toro Recycler 20068 self-propelled gas mower is a standout performer.
