Toro Recycler 20067 self-propelled gas mower

Date Published: 3/18/08

Premium features usually come with a price, but in the case of the Toro Recycler 20067 self-propelled gas mower, that price is affordable. This unit has all the bells and whistles you would expect to find in a mower at this price point: Rear-wheel drive, variable speed transmission, 3-in-1 operation (mulch, bag, side discharge), easy on/off grass bag and a high-torque engine. Surprisingly, this model also comes with an electric starter, which is something typically seen on more expensive models. The Recycler 20067 is an easy start on its own, as the engine starts on the first or second pull; in fact, the engine is guaranteed to start on the first or second pull for three years or Toro will fix it for free. Still, we feel that an electric starter is a premium convenience.

Most self-propelled gas mowers are equipped with 3-in-1 disposal, even at this price point; some are simply easier to convert between cutting operations than others. What sets this system apart from its competitors is its integrated mulch plug, which makes switching from bagging to mulching an effortless task. Instead of a separate piece that must be attached and removed, depending on the cutting operation, this integrated mulch plug drops right into place when the rear door is shut and the bag is removed. Another user-friendly feature is Toro's Personal Pace, which is a rear-wheel-drive self-propel system that is among the best we've seen. This innovative technology gives you complete control over how fast your mower moves; just place your hands on the handle and start walking. The system automatically adjusts its ground speed to match your walking speed (up to 4.8 miles per hour).

The Recycler's 22-inch mower deck is designed to provide a great quality of cut, even in tall grass. The blade is engineered with notches removed from the back so grass is cut into finely chopped pieces, and the unique front-throw chamber allows grass clippings to escape the deck. Should any clippings get caught on the deck's underside, a washout port makes cleaning an easy task; all you need do is connect an outdoor hose to the integrated port and turn it on. The combined action of the whirling blade and water pressure helps to keep the underside grass-free, so you get an excellent cut every time you mow.

The performance and power of the Toro Recycler 20067 self-propelled gas mower will keep your lawn looking it's best.

Pros: Electric starter, rear-wheel drive, high-torque engine, 3-in-1 operation, integrated mulch plug, Personal Pace self-propel system, wide deck, washout port
Cons: Individual deck height adjusters on each wheel
