The variety of playback and record options is very impressive. Dual autoreverse is expected, but you can program the decks to record in sequence, using the autoreverse mode. Both decks can record simultaneously from an external source, and you can even use a microphone and mix it with another external source--a karaoke performance captured on both decks (an adjustable microphone level control lets you attain the perfect balance).

Both decks have Dolby B and C noise reduction, although only one deck has Dolby HX Pro. The pitch control on one deck helps you make perfect compilations--change the pitch to keep things in the same musical key, or use it to change the beat of a dance mix.

Both decks also have CD-like features, like a program search, intro check, and a feature that scans past blank passages. The W-860R has an automatic tape type selector, which takes the guesswork out of recording. Although it does not come with a remote control, it is compatible with the Teac unified remote.
