Tamron AF28-300mm XR Di Ultra Zoom Lens
Date Published: 5/10/05
A tele-zoom lens lets you make a large image of a distant subject without moving closer to it. But seldom do you find a tele-zoom lens with the capability of recording both ultra wide-angle subjects at 28mm and then zoom way out to 300mm telephoto as can be done with the Tamron AF28-300mm XR Di Ultra Zoom Lens.
In addition, this extraordinary lens is relatively small in size and lightweight, so it's not much larger than the typical 35-105mm or similar "normal" zoom range furnished with most SLR cameras. It's said to be the smallest and lightest weight lens in this zoom range class.
Three hybrid Aspherical elements and high-grade LD (Low Dispersion) glass contribute to the size and weight and excellent optical characteristics. The wide 10.7X zoom range of this lens will replace several more normal zoom range lenses, so you only have to carry one lens along.
It focuses down to a mere 19 inches at any focal length, so you also have excellent close-up capability. The handsome flat black finish complements most SLR cameras, and two rubberized gripping rings make it easy to quickly and quietly zoom anywhere in the 28-300 zoom range.
It's available in mounts compatible with most major system cameras and is compatible with digital cameras. A sliding zoom lock switch lets you lock the lens at the shortest 28mm position so it won't accidentally extend while walking about with the lens attached to the camera. A special flower-shaped lens hood is included.
The test prints for the Tamron AF28-300mm XR Di Ultra Zoom Lens were exceptionally sharply detailed at a variety of focal lengths from ultra wide-angle 28mm out to full 300m telephoto. Colors were excellent as was the image quality.
