T-Mobile Wing Smart Phone

Date Published: 10/30/07

The T-Mobile Wing Smart Phone is definitely geared with the business professional in mind. The Wing runs Windows Mobile 6, which is a well-organized operating system that is excellent for keeping your days organized. Schedules are easy to manage and to view, while messages are promptly received through the included push e-mail. The ability to organize your messages is also very well designed. Best of all, professionals will definitely appreciate the ability to view and edit documents.

Access to the Internet is granted through the EDGE network or Wi-Fi but, unfortunately, the higher speed 3G networks are not supported, making for slow web browsing. The 201mHz processor is also less impressive than what other phones on the market offer. Sluggish processing is especially true if you are multi-tasking.

The device itself features an exterior that is easy to grip and a slider design, revealing a full QWERTY keyboard. The Wing is a bit clunky in size (and rather heavy at 6 ounces), but the keys are easy to type with and the navigation of menus is intuitive. Meanwhile, an external 2.8-inch touch screen improves ergonomics while offering a decent array of 65K colors. There are also soft keys for shortcuts to applications such as the voice recorder, messaging, and the camera. Speaking of, the 2-megapixel camera produces decent photos and the 8x zoom definitely comes in handy. Unfortunately, there is no flash. Video clips are decent as well and include sound that can be played over the built-in speakers. You can also play music that you've downloaded to the 128MB internal memory or to the microSD card.

The phone portion of the WING uses GSM bands (850/900/1800/1900) and call clarity is superb. Meanwhile, battery life is also excellent at 4 hours of talk time and 6 days of standby. Overall, this is a good option for business people, especially those in need of access to documents on the fly.

Pros: Windows Mobile 6, QWERTY keyboard, call clarity, battery life, document editing
Cons: slow connection and processing, clunky design, no camera flash
