Part of a new line of products endorsed by celebrity Chef Emeril Lagasse, the T-Fal Emerilware 3-in-1 Food Processor will save you time and effort in the kitchen.
Part food processor, part blender and part juicer, this is one appliance that literally does it all. The food processor comes with a large 12-cup transparent work bowl, a clear cover with feed tube and food pusher, a metal chopping blade, a plastic dough blade, coarse and fine shredding and slicing discs, a plastic emulsifying disc, and a plastic spatula. The blender accessories include a 40-ounce plastic carafe with stainless steel blade and a plastic lid with removable measuring cap. The juicer accessory comes with a citrus juice collector tray, cone, filter and spindle. An additional juice extractor accessory is referenced in the instruction manual but not included in the box.
This unit is operated by a single control dial with two speeds, plus a pulse setting. We loved the simplicity of the dial, which clicks in place at speeds 1 (low) and 2 (high), but has a spring-release mechanism that gives the pulse speed its short on/off capability. The powerful 550-watt motor makes short work of kitchen prep tasks.
The trickiest part of using this machine is making sure the bowl, blade and cover are assembled properly. The machine won't operate unless both the bowl and lid are locked in place. And, you must not twist lock the bowl in place on the base until the lid has been locked onto the bowl. Although it sounds complicated, it's actually just a matter of remembering the order of assembly. Once you get used to it, it's quite simple. The only part that tripped us up was the lid, which can actually be locked in position incorrectly. You need to be sure that the center spindle (which holds the blade) is aligned in the top of the lid. If not, the machine will operate but will make an awful, screeching sound from the parts rubbing together. Once corrected, the machine works like a dream.
We achieved excellent results chopping onions, blending a strawberry whipped dessert and slicing fruit for a cobbler. The extra large work bowl easily handles several cups of ingredients and still has room to allow the contents of the bowl to settle. We also loved the four-pronged plastic dough blade, which did a fine job mixing and kneading bread dough. You can mix up to 2 pounds of heavy dough in about a minute. The blender is efficient at preparing smooth milkshakes, juice cocktails and more. Because all of the parts are right on hand, you can start a recipe in the blender, and finish up in the food processor or vice versa.
We also appreciated subtle yet convenient touches like the suction cup feet and integrated storage drawer built into the front of the unit. The slide-out drawer holds all of extra blades and discs when not in use. Also, most of the removable parts are dishwasher safe for easy cleanup.
Pros: Large 12-cup work bowl, blender accessory, citrus juicer accessory, integrated storage drawer in base
Cons: Lid can be misaligned on work bowl causing parts to rub together
