Swisher Max Z ZT2660B zero-turn mower
Date Published: 4/11/08
The Swisher Max Z ZT2660B is a high-performance zero-turn mower that provides excellent performance, value and durability. Tough enough for commercial use yet affordable enough for homeowners, the ZT2660B is ideal for small business owners or residential users with large yards. The large yet stable 60-inch cutting deck does a wonderful job at all speeds and on all terrain surfaces.
Powered by a 26-hp Briggs & Stratton engine, the ZT2660B has plenty of kick and moves along at a nice clip of 6 mph, which is a very good speed considering the size of the cutting deck that's doing the dirty work. Mulching blades are standard issue on this mower, which is a nice touch; they work well for bigger mowing jobs. We find the cutting deck to be very stable and well balanced over all terrains. The anti-scalping wheels and the suspension that is used in the versatile deck (which can adjust its cutting height from 1.5 to 5 inches) do an excellent job on rough terrain and hills. Twin 2-gallon gas tanks carry enough fuel to cut a large-acreage yard without having to fill up, thanks again to the size and efficiency of the deck. One problem, however, is that the power of this machine creates a vortex of wind that can blast clippings into the air, which is a minor concern if you're trying to keep everything neat and tidy on a windy day.
The ZT2660B is also a very responsive machine. Controls are tight and smooth, even on surfaces that bounce the machine around. A well-padded seat with armrests adds to the comfort of the ride. Other machines of this size are often unwieldy when driven by non-professionals, but we find the ZT2660B very easy to maneuver, despite its large size. The heavy frame (over 900 pounds) is rigid, strong and well integrated into the suspension.
The ZT2660B's components are easy to access, for those wishing to perform their own routine maintenance on this machine.
Overall, the Swisher Max Z ZT2660B is a complete zero-turn mower -- powerful, efficient, sturdy and smooth. It should provide you with a professional-grade cut every time. It is a blast to ride and is well suited for all mowing conditions, though using it on a small lawn may seem like overkill. Regardless, the ZT2660B is highly recommended to those who are willing to invest in a professional-grade zero-turn mower.
