Sunbeam 1.5-2.0lb. Programmable Breadmaker 5891
Date Published: 1/25/07
The Sunbeam Breadmaker 5891 makes traditional or specialty breads easily and automatically.
This unit has a sleek white housing with pushbutton color-coded controls that are easy to understand. The instruction manual has twelve recipes -- one for each of the different cycles -- to get you started. There are settings for basic white bread, French bread, whole wheat, quick bread, sweet bread, dough only, jam, cake, sandwich, bake only and two ExpressBake settings.
The basic bread cycle takes 3 hours to complete. French and whole wheat bread takes a bit longer. Using the ExpressBake setting, you can make a 1.5-pound or 2-pound loaf of bread in about 58 minutes.
The Sunbeam Breadmaker 5891 comes with a removable nonstick bread pan, kneading blade, measuring cup and measuring spoon. A large viewing window atop the machine lets you keep an eye on the breadmaking progress. A digital display window shows the function and time remaining in the cycle. Making bread with the Sunbeam breadmaker is easy. Simply add ingredients in the order listed in the manual, select your loaf size (1.5 or 2 pounds), crust color (light, medium or dark), and function. A series of beeps alerts you when the bread is ready.
This unit also has a 13-hour delay bake so you can preset the start of breadmaking.
Pros: Programmable timer, auto-shutoff, expressbake option
Cons: Bulky -- takes up extra counter space
