Stihl MS 210 C-BE gas chain saw
Date Published: 5/30/07
The Stihl MS 210 C-BE is one of the easiest-starting gas chain saws we've tested. It's a smaller, lighter saw, well suited for wood cutting tasks around the typical yard and woodpile.
The Stihl MS 210 C-BE eliminates the need for repeated strong jerks on a starter cord. This model uses Stihl's new Easy2Start spring-assisted starting system, designated as E in the model number. In this innovative starting system, the assist spring winds each time the operator slowly pulls the starter cord. When the assist spring reaches the correct tension, it releases and engages the starter spring. That starts the engine. A lightweight polymer body houses a 2-bhp gas engine and compensating carburetor. The MS 210 C-BE also features a tool-free chain adjuster, designated by the B in the model number.
We really liked how easily this Stihl saw started. Most any operator should be able to start this model with little or no trouble. Its smaller engine and shorter bar prohibit cutting large trees, but for around-the-yard work and for preparing firewood, the 210 C-BE can hardly be beat. It's a smooth-running, well-balanced saw that buzzes right through most homeowner wood cutting chores. The anti-vibration system helps stave off operator fatigue. It's also lightweight and portable, and it comes with Stihl professional-level quality.
The Stihl MS 210 C-BE offers several safety features, including handle guards, a chain catcher and a throttle trigger interlock that must be depressed before the trigger is activated. This saw benefits from many other Stihl chain saw features that grace their professional saws. The MS 210 C-BE weighs 10.6 pounds without the cutting bar. It accepts cutting bars between 12 and 16 inches. The MSRP of $289.95 includes a 16-inch bar and chain.
The Stihl MS 210-CBE starts extremely easily, runs well, and cuts cleanly and quickly, making it a good general-purpose saw for the homeowner with moderate wood cutting needs.
Pros: Very easy to start, lightweight, Stihl reliability and quality
Cons: Noisy, requires mixed fuel
