Sony SRS-T33 portable stereo speakers
Date Published: 7/19/05
Sony's consumer electronics products have always had a reputation for engineering integrity, as well as a certain styling flair, and both traditions are alive and well in the SRS-T33.
This innovative desktop speaker provides stereo playback from a single small cabinet. It is designed to plug into a portable audio/video player, laptop, Walkman, or other audio playback device to produce loudspeaker (instead of headphone) playback.
The cabinet contains an amplifier, as well as a pair of 1-1/3-inch speakers with neodymium magnets spaced apart for improved stereo imaging. The unit can be battery powered, lasting about 24 hours of operation per battery set, or it can operate with an external AC adapter (not included). The SRS-T33 can also be used in a passive mode, with the unit connected directly to the playback unit's amplifier via the headphone jack. However, playback volume in this mode is typically not as loud as with the powered internal amplifier.
One should not expect deep bass from such a small unit, but the SRS-T33's cabinet is designed to provide some bass response. Moreover, the sound quality is better than average, especially at softer listening levels. The SRS-T33 is magnetically shielded for placement near a video display, and the cabinet can be folded into a small size to save space during transport. This model comes in silver (SRS-T33SILVER), blue (SRS-T33BLUE), and a rather shocking pink (SRS-T33PINK).
This Sony SRS-T33 is a one-box speaker that can provide good stereo playback from any portable player in a small, convenient package.
