The RDR-VX515 is a step up from the RDR-GX315 in Sony's line of DVD recorders. This unit includes the DVD recorder features of the RDR-GX315 but adds a VCR component as well, making it ideal as a space-saving multifunction recorder and player.

The RDR-VX515 records to DVD-R/RW and DVD+R/RW, including DVD+R DL (dual layer), and at the touch of a button can record from disc to VHS tape or vice versa. This unit offers a host of recording and playback features, including a front-panel iLink digital interface convenient for connecting a camcorder for transferring home movies to DVD or VHS cassette, as well as a built-in NTSC TV tuner. The disc player is compatible with DVD-Video, DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW, DVD+R DL, SVCD, VCD, CD, CD-R/RW, MP3, and JPEG, while the VCR can handle VHS and S-VHS tapes.

Progressive scan output delivers clean, distortion-free images to a digital TV, and surround sound signals can be routed to a home theater receiver via the optical digital audio output. The machine boasts a selection of recording speeds and an array of editing options. The RDR-VX515 package is completed with a handy multibrand remote control.
