Sony NW-E305 Walkman Bean MP3 Player
Date Published: 8/20/08
While manufacturers duel to produce the most advanced and feature-packed digital audio players, Sony has what may well be the cutest. The colorful NW-E305 Walkman is shaped like a kidney bean, hence the Bean moniker. Besides being adorable, the small shape is very well suited for one-handed operation.
The Bean includes 512MB of skip-free Flash memory, and it is compatible with MP3, ATRAC3, ATRAC3plus, WMA and WAV files. The built-in battery provides up to 50 hours of playback, but if you're caught without power, the Bean has a quick-charge feature that gives you up to 3 hours of playback with only 3 minutes of charging. The built-in FM tuner has presets to make it easy to skip to favorite stations.
Although it has only one line, the OEL display is easy to read in most situations. The Bean has a pop-up USB plug for fast file transfers without any additional cables. It includes adequate earphones, and it has basic bass and treble controls. Sure, the NW-E305 Walkman Bean is cute, but it's functional too.
