Sony MDR-EX81LP/B earcup-style headphones
Date Published: 5/10/06
The Sony MDR-EX81LP/B headphones are a departure from the typical earbuds so common these days. The MDR-EX81LP/B are an in-the-ear design, meaning that the small cupped drivers are designed to fit gently into the tip of the ear canal. This eliminates a good deal of external noise while creating a sealed chamber for a better-than-expected bass response, producing a more impactful low-end sound than you might imagine possible from such small headphones. It should be noted that proper placement in the ear is essential for good performance.
The MDR-EX81LP/B use 9mm drivers and soft silicon earcups, and Sony includes two earcup sizes to ensure a comfortable yet snug fit. The rest of the design is just as satisfying, employing an elastomer "hanger" that literally hangs down from the top of the ears. A supplied carrying pouch protects the somewhat delicate earcups from damage when not in use.
The MDR-EX81LP/B headphones have a frequency response of 5Hz to 23,000Hz, with an impedance of 16 ohms and a sensitivity of 100dB/mW. They are available in either black or white (as model MDR-EX81LP/W), and they come with a gold-plated stereo mini plug. For small, lightweight earphones with an impressively large sound, give a listen to the Sony MDR-EX81LP/B.Warranty
