The Sony MDR-EX81LP/B headphones are a departure from the typical earbuds so common these days. The MDR-EX81LP/B are an in-the-ear design, meaning that the small cupped drivers are designed to fit gently into the tip of the ear canal. This eliminates a good deal of external noise while creating a sealed chamber for a better-than-expected bass response, producing a more impactful low-end sound than you might imagine possible from such small headphones.
