The Sony KLV-21SG2 is a 21-inch LCD TV that is compact enough to fit on a counter, tabletop, or shelf.

This silver WEGA model includes stereo speakers on either side of the flat screen and a swivel base that is removable for mounting the monitor on a wall (separate hardware required). Control buttons and a Memory Stick slot are conveniently located along one side of the cabinet, while easy-access audio/video and S-video inputs, along with a headphone jack, are sited along the other side. Clips on the rear of the cabinet secure the various cables and keep them out of sight.

The KLV-21SG2 is HD-ready, with an XGA resolution of 1,024X768. The picture benefits from a 3-D digital comb filter and all-digital circuitry, with plenty of sharpness and detail regardless of the type of incoming signal.

Fast-moving action scenes in film content look smooth thanks to reverse 3:2 pulldown conversion. The viewing angle is 170 degrees, so this TV is visible from practically anywhere in a room. Color temperature can be set to cool, neutral, or warm, and three video presets add to the viewer's control over the picture.

The internal stereo speakers are rated at 4 watts of audio output per channel, and there is the option of simulated surround sound or connecting to external speakers for a larger audio experience.

Convenience features include memory for favorite channels, an adjustable sleep timer, picture freeze, and closed captions. When viewing digital photos via the Memory Stick slot, images can be rotated, viewed individually or in a slide show, and previewed 16 at a time. The KLV-21SG2 can also display digital movies stored on Memory Stick.

In addition to the side inputs, the KLV-21SG2 has rear inputs that will accommodate a range of devices, with another audio/video input, an S-video input, a set of component video inputs, and fixed/variable audio outputs. The universal remote control has direct access buttons for two additional components and a previous channel button for moving easily between a pair of programs.
