Sony obviously worked overtime in the imagination department while developing the multifunctional ICF-CD555TV. Designed for kitchen use, the silver ICF-CD555TV includes a 7-inch LCD TV with built-in cable tuner, AM/FM tuner, CD player, and kitchen timer, all in a compact unit that can be mounted under a cabinet. When not in use, the screen folds into the base unit, which extends only a bit over 4 inches below the cabinet. The front control panel includes an LED display, an array of control buttons, and the CD tray, which extends forward to load and unload discs.

Images on the display are bright and sharp, with access to VHF and UHF channels as well as up to 125 cable channels (with subscription cable service, of course). The integrated antenna may be useful for over-the-air access in some areas. The built-in stereo speakers are equipped with bass enhancement, providing a rich sound experience. The radio has 15 station presets (10 FM and 5 AM), and the CD player can handle commercial CD as well as CD-R/RW. The remote control has everything needed to manage the ICF-CD555TV's many functions, and it has a magnetic backing for easy storage on a refrigerator door.
