The Sony DVP-NC875V is a five-disc DVD/SACD changer that is available in both black (DVP-NC875V/B) and silver (DVP-NC875V/S) finishes. Like other Sony DVD players, this changer is extremely versatile. For digital TV owners, the DVP-NC875V offers the superior picture quality of Sony's Precision Cinema progressive scan output with 3:2 pulldown to correct any distortion created when playing 24 frames-per-second DVD-Video at the 30 frames-per-second video output of a DVD player. For analog TV users, the DVP-NC875V also offers composite and S-video outputs.

The DVP-NC875V is compatible with a broad array of disc formats including SACD, DVD+R/RW, DVD-R/RW, and CD-R/RW. It can also handles CD packed with MP3 files and can create a digital slideshow when loaded with JPEG image CD. It should be noted that the DVP-NC875V cannot be considered a universal disc player, as it follows the standard Sony theme and does not support DVD-Audio.

The unit features built-in Dolby Digital and DTS decoding, so it can be connected to an audio/video receiver to produce surround sound as well as the best of the SACD format. For those without a full surround sound speaker system, the unit can also replicate multichannel sound through stereo speakers by utilizing the virtual surround function. The excellent all-around audio performance is augmented by the unit's digital bass management system for balancing SACD output.

Sony's Precision Drive 3 system enables the changer to eliminate playback errors in warped, scratched, or otherwise damaged discs that other players struggle to read. The carousel changer operates smoothly and quietly, rapidly shuffling between discs or playing one disc while the others are exchanged. The Sony DVP-NC875V has plenty of playback options and is overall an excellent DVD/SACD changer.
