Sole E95
Date Published: 1/29/08
While we are fans of other Sole elliptical machines, we feel that in the E95, the company has released its best-value machine yet. The Sole E95 is a top-of-the-range model that offers more impressive construction than lower-end units. The rear rails on the E95 feature plastic shrouds for extra rear stability; they also make for a safer machine, especially if you have young children who like to put their fingers into places they do not belong. The E95 is also an ideal elliptical for larger users; the 20-inch stride length delivers a comfortable motion for tall exercisers, while the unit's maximum user weight capacity is an impressive 400 pounds. Combine the thoughtful construction with Sole's solid warranty and in-home service and you know this is an elliptical machine that is built to last.
The high-gear ratio of the heavy-duty flywheel means that in addition to a super-smooth motion, the E95 delivers plenty of resistance for a challenging workout no matter what your current fitness levels. The oversize foot pedals boast foam cushioning and a unique inward slope to reduce the impact on knee and ankle joints. The foot pedals can also be adjusted for optimal comfort as you workout. In both forward and reverse motion, we find that the Sole E95 delivers a smooth, whisper-quiet action that feels much more natural than many other front-drive elliptical machines.
The LCD screen on this unit offers a multicolored display for easier-to-read feedback on your workouts and divides the information into two separate windows. In addition to 20 levels of resistance, the E95 also features ten workout programs, including two heart-rate-monitoring programs; heart rate is monitored either with the built-in handlebar sensors or via the wireless chest strap. Convenience features include a water bottle holder, built-in cooling fan and integrated speakers. Hook up your iPod or equivalent digital music player and you can enjoy your favorite tunes as you work out without needing to use headphones. It should be noted that this is a large machine, with a footprint of 82X33 inches and a weight of 215 pounds, but its size contributes to its sturdiness. The top-of-the-line Sole E95 elliptical machine delivers excellent performance and features, and it represents great value for money.
