Snapper LT2044 lawn tractor

The Snapper LT2044 is an excellent lawn tractor that offers the perfect balance of performance, comfort and ease of use.
The LT2044's controls are simple to understand and utilize Snapper's color-coded button scheme for ease of operation. Starting the machine, adjusting its speed with the foot pedal and manipulating the mower deck height are straightforward and uncomplicated. The hydrostatic transmission is smooth and engages without hitching, even on hills and coming out of tight turns. A tight 14-inch turning radius is another plus, especially considering the fact that this machine is equipped with a generous 44-inch triple-bladed cutting deck. We find that the deck provides an even cut at all heights (which can be adjusted from 1.5 to 4 inches) and did a superb job knocking out weeds and overgrown patches. Floatation on the deck is consistent at every height and remains stable on bumpy and rugged terrain. The LT2044's top forward speed is 5.5 mph, which is a good complement to the 44-inch deck. We are happily surprised that the 20-hp Briggs & Stratton Intek overhead valve engine provides a good kick on hills and that the tractor itself is easy to turn in any environment.
Even though Snapper claims to have refrained from optimizing luxury items, the ride of this tractor is as soft as higher-priced models. Steering is responsive and tight, and the frame and suspension do a good job absorbing shocks. The standard seat is comfortable and rarely transmits any jarring bumps from the ground to the rider. A pivoting front axle keeps the machine balanced on downhill turns, which makes for a secure feeling while riding on uneven terrain.
If all this isn't enough, Snapper's easy-removal system makes taking off the mowing deck a breeze. After the deck is removed, the company's line of optional attachments and add-ons are a breeze to integrate. Snapper offers a variety of grass collectors, a nice mulching kit and a dethatcher for seasonal use. When winter comes, the LT2044 continues its fine performance with a snow blade attachment, a single-stage snow thrower and a comfy snow cab (which is a great addition if you're clearing out large lots). The engine is powerful enough to handle year-round medium-duty work and won't flinch if you have short instances of heavy-duty work.
While a few of the luxury features of higher-end tractors are missing from Snapper's LT2044, everything you need for a smooth riding, highly functional, easy-to-use, clean-cutting mower is standard issue.
Pros: Smooth ride, even cut at all heights, easy to switch out cutting deck, intuitive controls, good power, good attachment variety, good performance as a winter tractor
Cons: Some expensive attachments, expensive compared to similar tractors
