Snapper 331523KVE riding mower

The Snapper 331523KVE riding mower is a well-built machine with versatility for lawns up to 1-1/2 acres in size. We rate it as a Best Buy.
Though Snapper is owned by Briggs & Stratton, the 331523KVE is powered by a 15-hp Kohler Command CV15 engine. The Kohler Command is a single-cylinder vertical shaft two-stroke overhead valve (OHV) engine. We believe that it is a stronger and longer-lasting engine than the comparable B&S engine. In addition, the transmission for this model is extra-duty. Combined, this model is made of sterner stuff and should cut lawns longer than most other comparable models. If longevity is important, consider this model.
The 331523KVE also has a wider -- though not the widest -- cut. At 33 inches, this model cuts nearly 20 percent more grass per pass than one with a 28-inch cut. Theoretically, that would trim a 60-minute rider ride to about 48 minutes. Forward speed is up to 4.6 mph and in reverse it can be clocked at up to 1.9 mph.
As with other Snapper mowers, this model isn't made for tight turning. The turning radius is 28 inches, nearly the width of the mower. But if your lawn doesn't require tight turns, the Snapper 331523KVE offers other features and benefits to attract you.
One feature we like is the smooth 5-speed clutchless transmission. Put the shift lever in one of the five notches and don't worry about a clutch pedal. There's a neutral position, too.
For many yards, the versatility of lawn waste disposal is another good feature. You can use the right-side discharge and rake the grass up later, attach a chute and rear bagger to the side discharge, or put a mulching plug in the side discharge and let the mulching blade -- called the Ninja Mulching System -- cut up the clippings. Of course, the bagger and the mulching package are extra-cost options. The Hi-Vac deck design makes this model superior for bagging.
Starting the 331523KVE is easy; it's electric. And if that doesn't work, there's a backup: a recoil pull-starter. Once started, there's a handy lever for adjusting the cutting height between 1-1/2 and 4 inches in 1/2-inch increments. Put the lever into gear, move the throttle and start cutting. Steering is 1:1, meaning a 45-degree turn of the steering wheel moves the two front wheels to a 45-degree angle -- no power steering here, but it's not that difficult to turn.
For versatility, the 331523KVE can be put to work with various attachments including a dump cart and a thatcher. For winter, consider attaching a snow dozer blade.
The Snapper 331523KVE is a well-designed riding mower with sufficient power and strength to make cutting grass relatively easy -- as long as you don't need to make any tight turns. It's a Best Buy.
