Snapper 10.5-hp Snow Blower 10530E
Date Published: 10/5/07
Buying a big machine like the 10530E from your local Snapper dealer can make a lot of sense, because that is where you'll be going for service and parts. These dealers rely on your repeat business and often are willing to cut a deal on equipment that they will service later.
When it comes to large frame machines like the 10539E, you'll find plenty to choose from at these independent dealerships. You're also likely to find a dealer who knows the equipment inside and out who can help you select the best machine for your individual needs.
If you're considering Snapper's 10530E, chances are you anticipate moving plenty of snow, live in a very snowy climate or have a larger than average space to clear. The 10530E is a snow blower that is up to all of these challenges. Like all of the Snapper large frame models, this machine has a 14-inch auger, six speeds forward and two speeds reverse, and a standard electric start. It also offers Snapper's unique Easy Turn feature. With Easy Turn, you can use a trigger to release the power to one wheel to make easy 180-degree turns.
Where it differs is in its engine and its clearing path. Equipped with a large 10.5-hp Briggs & Stratton Intek Snow OHV engine, this model is powerful enough to handle some hilly terrain. Its 30-inch clearing path is fairly wide for a home-use machine, and as such, it requires a larger-size engine for moving the weight of the front-mounted shovel.
The 10530E's 16-inch tires are larger and more rugged than the tires used on Snapper's smaller machines. For this reason, once again, the machine makes a good choice for property with hills.
Snapper's 10530E also makes a good choice for a particularly wide driveway because it can throw snow a distance of up to 45 feet; this is a full 5 feet farther than the smaller large-frame Snapper machines. With a very wide space to clear, this can mean the difference between moving the same snow once or repeatedly. To find out if you need to go this big, measure from the center of the space you'll be clearing to the area where you plan to bank the snow. Unless, you're clearing a parking lot, you may find that you don't need to spend extra money to get the additional throwing distance.
In addition to its larger clearing path and bigger engine, the 10530E is the lowest-priced Snapper model that includes a headlight as standard equipment.
Pros: 30-inch clearing path, 45-foot throwing distance, Easy Turn, headlight
Cons: Large machine to store, expensive unless you need the headlight or have a very wide space to clear
