Skil 2362-01 7.2 Volt Lithium Ion Power Driver

Date Published: 11/7/07

Compact, lightweight and powered by a lithium-ion battery, the 2362-01 Lithium Ion Power Driver is the newest addition to Skil's system of 7.2-volt Li-Ion tools. The 2362-01 is perfectly sized for overhead applications and tight spaces. To make sure you have the right torque for any job requirement, the adjustable clutch has 11 torque settings, including a drill setting.

The 2362-01 is well-balanced, and it has plenty of power for a tool this size. The best selling point is the lithium-ion battery, which significantly contributes to the compact, lightweight and user-friendly design. The built-in battery takes from 3 to 5 hours to fully charge, but because it is lithium-ion, it can hold a charge for up to 18 months. The handy charger automatically stops when the battery is fully charged, and an on-tool LED illuminates when the battery capacity reaches 30 percent or less.

The 2362-01 is equipped with a variable-speed trigger switch with auto brake for precise speed adjustments from 0 to 500 revolutions per minute. Bit changes are easy thanks to a quick-release keyless chuck, which efficiently locks bits in place. The one drawback is that the tool's chuck accepts only standard 1/4-inch hexagonal shank accessories with a power groove, but fortunately the 2362-01 comes with a ten-piece bit set to meet most needs. The wall-mountable cradle charger can be hung on the wall in your workshop alongside your hammers, screwdrivers and other tools.

If you're looking for a lightweight drill/driver with lithium-ion technology, check out Skil's new 2362-01 7.2-Volt Lithium Ion Power Driver.

Pros: Compact and lightweight design, lithium-ion battery holds a charge up to 18 months, quick-change chuck for easy bit changes, variable-speed trigger with brake, on-tool battery-level indicator
Cons: Chuck accepts only 1/4-inch specialty bits with hexagonal shanks, internal battery can't be replaced if it goes bad
