Sirius SR-H550 home satellite radio tuner
Date Published: 1/14/08
Sirius' SR-H550 is a component-size satellite radio receiver that will fit nicely into any home electronics stack, letting users tune into the 120-plus channels of Sirius radio and listen over their high-quality stereo or home theater speakers. Of course, Sirius radio requires a monthly subscription, but that is a small price to pay for the exceptional programming and quality of Sirius' satellite broadcast.
The SR-H550's six-line blue-lit display shows channel name, artist information, sports teams and scores, and other information. Programming can be tuned sequentially, by categories, by the 30-channel preset lists, or by channel number, and particular channels can be locked out if desired. Conveniently, while listening to one channel, you can surf through other channels to see what else is playing. The SR-H550 can also be programmed to alert you when favorite songs, artists, or even sports team broadcasts are on other channels.
The included Sirius antenna has a 21-foot cable that should be long enough for most installation situations, but if not, an optional 50-foot extension cable is available. The SR-H550 has a signal-strength indicator to help position the antenna optimally. Sirius satellites move continually across the sky, so you do not necessarily need southern exposure to see a satellite hovering over the equator.
Both analog and digital audio outputs allow the SR-H550 to connect to a receiver for playback. With the SR-H550, you can enjoy all the offerings of Sirius satellite radio at home with all the convenience and features found in portable satellite receivers. Just don't forget to pay your subscription.
