Simplicity 1380E two-stage snow thrower
Date Published: 10/24/08
With its 32-inch clearing path, the heavy-duty Simplicity 1380E snow thrower cuts an extra-wide swath through driveways and sidewalks, which also cuts down on the time it takes to finish the job.
Its 13-horsepower Briggs & Stratton Intek Snow OHV engine powers the unit through just about whatever Mother Nature tosses in its direction, letting the 14-inch serrated auger chew it up and spit it into the impeller's four blades.
Standard on this model are just about all of Simplicity's extras, from the Power Boost, which senses the snow's depth and density and tweaks the power to the auger and impeller, to the Free Hand control, which lets the operator run the unit with just one hand.
Also on this nearly-top-of-the-line snow thrower: electric start, hand warmer grips, a headlight, drift cutters, and Simplicity's Easy Turn, a system that releases power to one of the tires, making it simple to take tight turns.
The Simplicity 1380E isn't inexpensive, but its durable construction and plentiful perks make it worth every penny of its nearly $2,100 price tag.
