Sierra Designs Trade Wind +15 down sleeping bag
Date Published: 6/15/06
The Sierra Designs Trade Wind +15 is a down sleeping bag designed to provide comfortable warmth on moderately cold nights. As with any down sleeping bag, the Trade Wind +15 is not designed for wet conditions; down loses its insulating properties when wet. However, its 800-fill power down does provide an excellent weight-to-warmth ratio and compressibility. The Trade Wind +15, as its name states, is rated to +15 degrees Fahrenheit.
The bag could be used in the open without the protection of a tent because the outer DriZone nylon shell fabric is waterproof and essentially impervious to dampness and dew; it is also breathable. However, the shell seams are not taped so rain will enter the bag. The bag uses continuous baffle construction to distribute down throughout the bag, thus avoiding cold spots. Tucked seams are sewn from the inside to help prevent snags and runs.
The Trade Wind down sleeping bag is equipped with a full-length, two-way zipper with a locking slider; binding tape helps prevent snags. The zipper is fully insulated with a draft tube running its length. The hood can be tightened with differentiated drawcords. The footbox is designed for a little extra foot room. The bag also features pad locks at the shoulders and hips so you can secure the bag to a sleeping pad.
The Trade Wind down sleeping bag will keep you comfortable on cool and cold nights, and also pack small and lightweight. The Trade Wind down sleeping bag is also offered as the Solar Flare +15, a down sleeping bag for women.
