Sherwood VR-670 virtual home theater system
Date Published: 5/10/06
Although small enough to fit on a bookshelf, the attractive Sherwood VR-670 does far more than a typical shelf audio system. Its disc player with front-loading tray is compatible with DVD-Video, DVD-R/RW, and DVD+R/RW, as well as audio CD and CD-R/RW, including discs holding MP3 and JPEG files. The video signal is output to a TV or other display via a progressive scan component video output.
The system can decode Dolby Digital and DTS signals, replaying surround soundtracks in stereo mode. In addition, in its Dolby Virtual Speaker mode the VR-670 can create a virtual surround soundfield that improves on ordinary stereo. When listening privately, Dolby Headphone provides virtual surround sound to your headphones.
The stereo amplifier is rated at 25 watts per channel into each of the two speakers, and the VR-670 also has a separate subwoofer with its own 100-watt amplifier. Each magnetically shielded bass reflex speaker uses a 2-1/2-inch midrange driver and a 1-inch tweeter, while the subwoofer features a 6-1/2-inch driver. The VR-670 has analog audio inputs and outputs, a subwoofer pre-amplifier output, and an optical digital output. A remote control is included in the package.
The VR-670 has beautiful contemporary styling that places it beyond most shelf systems. If you want to listen to music and also watch DVD but only have space for a small system, the Sherwood VR-670 will do a great job.Warranty
