Date Published: 10/26/07
Sharp's LC-37D7U is a multitalented 37-inch AQUOS LCD TV that has a built-in high-definition tuner, CableCARD slot, and PC inputs. The thin-film display has detachable stereo speakers located below the wide-format screen, and the silver stand makes it easy to swivel and tilt the screen for optimal viewing.
The stand can be removed for wall mounting (bracket available separately). The monitor is sleekly designed in titanium and black, creating a highly fashionable accessory for the living room. Control buttons are lined along the top edge of the monitor, inputs and outputs are sited on the rear panel, and the memory card slot is located on a side edge.
The wide-format screen displays at a resolution of 1,366X768, producing a highly detailed, sharp picture. This set has a contrast ratio of 800:1, and it can receive and display digital and analog signals with its ATSC and NTSC tuners. The response time is quick for an LCD TV at less than 16 milliseconds. The screen is viewable from 170 degrees, ensuring that every seat in the room is a great one.
Twin tuners enable the numerous PIP functions, and there is a choice of four widescreen viewing modes to accommodate different types of programming.
The inputs are quite extensive, with an unusual three RF inputs for antenna/cable connections, three audio/video inputs, one S-video input, two HD-compatible component video inputs, one HDMI interface, an audio/video output, and optical digital audio outputs for use with a Dolby Digital/DTS surround sound system. The universal remote control has illuminated buttons that come in handy when using the LC-37D7U in a darkened room.
The Sharp LC-37D7U has stereo speakers that produce a total of 20 watts of audio output, and the audio system can be configured to simulate surround sound.
