Date Published: 10/26/07
The LC-20S4U-S is a 20-inch AQUOS TV from Sharp that is small enough to fit into a range of tight spaces, from the kitchen counter to a spare bedroom.
The flat LCD screen is configured in the standard 4:3 aspect ratio, with a black TFT coating to reduce reflections. Control buttons are located along the top edge and speakers are placed below the screen in the silver base.
The picture is displayed at a resolution of 640X480, at the EDTV level, and it is ideally configured for use with progressive scan DVD players. The LC-20S4U-S is not HD-compatible. The picture is nice and bright, and a contrast ratio of 500:1 ensures that edges are crisp. The wide 170-degree viewing angle makes the LC-20S4U-S easy to watch from anywhere in a room.
The built-in stereo system produces 4.2 total watts of audio output, which is adequate on a small TV.
The inputs are designed for use with a DVD player and several other components such as a VCR, with the rear panel containing one RF input, two audio/video inputs, one S-video input, one HD component video input, and audio/video outputs. The remote control has a comfortable layout and an attractive design.
The monitor of the Sharp LC-20S4U-S can be mounted on a wall using mounting hardware that is available separately, or it can be used with the included tilt-and-swivel stand.
