Sebo X1 upright vacuum
Date Published: 2/11/08
Sebo takes cleaning very seriously, and it's our guess that anyone who is willing to spend this much on a vacuum does too.
Available only from vacuum specialty shops, the X1 is lighter in weight than most, has superior filtration, and is overall an easy-to-use, durable machine.
Recommended for allergy sufferers, this model has an S-Class (HEPA) filter that captures all particles smaller than .3 microns. These particles are then trapped in an exceptionally strong, sealable bag that acts as an additional filter.
The bag system is specially designed to prevent dust from escaping into the air. The bag is removed with a lid in place, sealed with a green dust seal, and then the lid can be removed when discarding the dirt. To replace a bag, it must first be attached to the bag lid, then replaced into the machine. These special bags must be used and are available only from Sebo dealers. Filters on this machine should be changed every 6-12 months in order to ensure optimal performance.
The most popular and most unique feature of the X1 is its ability to bend parallel to the floor for cleaning under beds, tables, and chairs. Since only 5.5 inches of clearance is needed, this feature eliminates the need to move any furniture to achieve a thorough cleaning.
Unlike most common vacuums, this one is equipped with a cutout motor that shuts off the unit before it burns out, if a damaging item is accidentally sucked into the machine. Indicator lights on the power head alert you to problems such as non-functioning brushrolls or hose blockage.
This model has a powerful 850-amp motor and a 12-inch cleaning path. Other Sebo models cost even more and offer a 15-inch cleaning path and up to 1300 watts of suction power.
This model comes with an onboard crevice tool, dusting brush, and upholstery tool. Optional tools can extend the abilities of this model even further and include various extension tubes, a floor brush, a radiator brush, and an assortment of other useful accessories.
Manufactured in Germany of high-quality components, this model very rarely receives any complaints. With an expected life of 10 years or more, the X1 may well be worth the cost for those who live to vacuum.
If you won't take the time to maintain this incredible and expensive Sebo X1 upright vacuum, save yourself a bundle and select something more mainstream.
