Sanyo M1 CDMA Mobile Phone

Date Published: 12/14/07

The Sanyo M1 Mobile Phone is definitely geared towards audiophiles, and the feature that makes this phone stand out from the competition is the impressive 1GB of internal memory. With this much room to store music, videos, and pictures, the M1 definitely qualifies as a device that can replace your other gadgetry. To understand the size of this memory, take notice that you can make a two-hour video clip and store it on the phone's internal memory. The MP3 player works good as well and the built-in stereo speakers are great for picnics or trips to the beach. Meanwhile, because the high-speed EV-DO network is supported, you can download files at a fairly speedy rate. You also have access to streaming video services.

Despite its hefty size, the phone itself is not particularly solid. But the buttons on the exterior of the phone allow you to perform numerous tasks without flipping open the cover. There are dedicated buttons for picture- and video-taking, recording voice memos, and using the MP3 player. The external color LCD is large (1.3 inches) and vibrant (260K colors), displaying the usual information (battery, time, photo ID) as well as song titles when the tunes are played. Unfortunately, the pictures taken with the 2-megapixel camera aren't stellar, but there is a 16x zoom and the interior 2-inch LCD is capable of displaying 260K colors as well.

In addition to the multimedia options, the M1's phone features are excellent. Call clarity is good, you have access to push-to-talk technology and, despite all of the high-end gadgetry, the M1 offers a 3.8 hours of talk time and about 18 hours for music playback. Other features include: stereo Bluetooth, speakerphone, a 500-contact address book, and vibrating alert. Overall, this is a great phone for people who want to use their phone for more than telephone calls.

Pros: 1GB internal memory, MP3 player, stereo speakers, good call clarity, dedicated buttons, excellent LCDs
Cons: phone design, so-so camera

1-year limited
