Samsung's TX-R2035 is a compact 20-inch TV with stereo sound and a conservative but attractive front panel that will fit with most decors.

Control buttons are located on the front, while composite video inputs and a headphone jack are placed within easy reach on the side.

The flatness of the CRT picture tube reduces distortion, and it is coated to cut down on glare. The picture can be configured in normal or zoom mode for widescreen content. There is also a choice of four picture presets for quick adjustments. A digital comb filter reduces dot crawl and rainbow effects, while the color temperature menu provides a choice of three settings for adjusting the picture to user preferences.

The internal audio system consists of twin stereo speakers producing a total of five watts of output, and the sound can be quickly adjusted for movies, music, speech, standard programs or a custom setting. Volume is automatically controlled to avoid sudden loud bursts during commercials, and there is a choice of simulated surround sound or turbo sound, which enhances the upper and lower frequencies.

Convenience features include a surf button that returns to a "home" channel after a set period of channel surfing, as well as on/off and sleep timers. In addition to the side inputs, the TX-R2035 has a full array of rear inputs, with two more composite video inputs, an S-video input, a component video input and an RF input, plus a composite video output. The remote control is a standard model that has a convenient layout without an excess of buttons.
