Samsung's SIR-T451 HDTV receiver is the perfect complement to an HD-ready TV and an HD antenna, as it can deliver high-definition programming broadcast over the air. This receiver can output signals in 1,080i, 720p, or 480p. In addition to the high-end images, this tuner can receive Dolby Digital 2.0 stereo or Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound audio.

The silver set-top box has handy controls on the front panel, along with an LED display to indicate channel and other information. It comes with an over-the-air electronic program guide (PSIP protocol) that lists available programs and can be used to set up programming reminders. An integrated signal strength meter comes in handy when positioning the antenna.

The rear of the SIR-T451 has one RF input and a whole range of outputs, including audio/video, S-video, component video, DVI, analog audio, and optical and coaxial digital audio. The universal remote control is compact, with several color-coded buttons near the base for changing the aspect ratio, adding or deleting channels, changing audio effects, or activating closed captions.
