Date Published: 10/8/07
The Samsung ML-3051ND is a monochrome laser printer that is built for speed. This printer is particularly appealing if you are a home office or small business user who hates waiting for your print jobs to finish.
At just under 35 pounds when loaded, the ML-3051ND is no lightweight, but its compact design fits into even the most crowded office. The paper tray can hold up to 250 sheets of plain paper, and it tucks under the printer to save space. The multipurpose tray can hold up to 50 sheets. Located on the top of the ML-3051ND, the output bin can hold up to 150 sheets. A built-in duplexer adds flexibility and conserves paper. One handy feature is a Toner Save mode, which lets you conserve toner when printing drafts or documents for in-house use.
Output speeds are impressive. The ML-3051ND produces the first page of a print job in less than 9 seconds, even after a period of inactivity, and it is rated at up to 30 letter-size pages per minute. In real-world conditions, even text documents won't turn out that quickly, but we found the printer's performance to be quite satisfactory.
The ML-3051ND supports print resolutions of up to 1,200X1,200 dpi. Output quality of text is very good to excellent, even at small font sizes. Line art is crisp, with few if any broken lines. Grayscale images show little banding or dithering, and the quality of most photos is good enough for client presentations.
Notable features include the ability to print watermarks on documents, such as marking them confidential or drafts, as well as the ability to print booklets that you can fold and staple. The ML-3051ND can also tile pages to create posters by taping the pages together. The control panel on the top right side of the printer includes a display that provides easy access to all printer menus.
The Samsung ML-3051ND is a monochrome laser printer that will stand up to the demands of home office and small business use.
