The Samsung ML-2571N is a compact monochrome laser printer that will make an attractive addition to your home office. What the ML-2571N may lack in print quality, it makes up for in output speeds. You won't waste time waiting for jobs with this printer.

The ML-2571N is network-ready, so it's easy to share on a home or home office network, although with its limited paper capacity, you may not want to share it with too many people.

The multipurpose paper tray, which tucks under the printer and helps it maintain its compact shape, can hold up to 250 plain sheets. This is low for business use, and there's no option to add another tray. The manual tray can hold a single sheet of paper or a single envelope. The output bin on the top of the printer can hold up to 100 sheets of plain paper.

Located on the top-right side of the ML-2571N, the printer control panel is straightforward and easy to use. A Cancel button lets you print a demo page or cancel a job in progress. Two status lights let you know when the printer is ready or if there's an error, such as a paper jam. Both lights may be on or blinking, and each state may mean a handful of different things. It's up to you to figure out exactly what, but unlike on some other printers, the possibilities and blinking combinations are fairly obvious.

The ML-2571N supports print resolutions of up to 1,200X1,200 dpi. Output quality is good to very good for text and line art. However, grayscale images like charts are subject to banding, and photographs aren't always as sharp as they could be. A Toner Save mode allows you to conserve toner when printing drafts and other low-priority documents.

The Samsung ML-2571N won't impress you with its output quality, but this monochrome laser printer is a good choice when the priority is to get the job done quickly and efficiently.
