The Samsung HL-R5067W is a 50-inch rear-projection DLP TV with built-in ATSC and NTSC tuners for over-the air reception of HD and standard content, a CableCARD slot that eliminates the need for an external cable box, and PC compatibility.

The picture on the HL-R5067W's wide-format flat screen is bright and richly detailed, with a contrast ratio of up to 2,500:1, a 3-D Y/C digital comb filter to eliminate dot crawl and hanging dots, and freedom from the convergence issues that affect CRT rear-projection sets.

The resolution is 1,280X720p, with up-conversion ensuring high quality on all sorts of content. Film content that is formatted in 480i is automatically reconfigured through 3:2 conversion, eliminating any uneven motion. One of the advantages of DLP technology is that screen aging and image burn-in does not affect it. It is also immune to changes in humidity, temperature, and vibration.

The internal stereo speakers are rated at 30 watts of total audio output, with simulated surround sound available. The HL-R5067W has twin tuners and both split-screen and picture-in-picture options for viewing multiple programs at once.

Three picture presets and five audio presets allow quick adjustments of the audio and video settings. Other convenience features include five picture format options, channel labeling, and V-chip parental controls.
