Salter Nutri-Weigh Dietary Computer Scale 1450
Date Published: 4/18/08
Computer lovers will adore the simple laptop-style design of the Salter Nutri-Weigh Dietary Scale 1450. This unit has a fully loaded database with built-in nutrition information for 1,430 foods, plus it has the capacity to store up to 100 new entries. The base is 9.5 inches wide by 8.25 inches deep and 1.5 inches tall with the screen raised.
The screen flips open, just like a laptop computer and has two display windows: a search screen where you can scan the names of the stored food items, and a nutrition screen which displays the weight of the food (in pounds/ounces, milliliters, fluid ounces, or grams) as well as the calories, protein, carbohydrates, total sugars, total fat, saturated fat, fiber, sodium, cholesterol and net carbs. The information displayed reflects the respective amounts based on the given weight so you can weigh different size potatoes, for instance, to get the nutritional content for each. The weighing platform is a raised 6.25-inch-diameter surface with a removable stainless-steel disk that can be used alone or in conjunction with a separate plate or bowl, to weigh foods.
An easy-to-use touchpad keyboard lets you change mode (from ounces to grams, for instance); enter and scroll through food items using the alpha-numeric key pad; enter commonly used items into memory; zero the display to add and weigh additional ingredients; and access the different functions from the menu key. One of the real advantages of this scale is its ability to keep track of foods that are consumed, allowing dieters to check their progress as they go. The Nutri-Weigh Dietary Computer Scale 1450 can keep track of the diets of two different users at the same time. The nutritional information is based on the USDA Guidelines.
