Safety 1st Summit Deluxe High-Back Booster Car Seat 22565
Date Published: 3/7/07
If you're in the market for a toddler-to-booster car seat, the Safety 1st Summit Deluxe High-Back Booster Car Seat 22565 is a solid choice. It can be used as a forward-facing car seat with a five-point harness for children weighing 22 to 40 pounds. Once a child hits the 40-pound mark, it can be used as a belt-positioning booster for up to 100 pounds and the five-point harness can be removed. The belt-positioning guides are easy to use and secure both the car seat and the child. The harness has several shoulder-height adjustments that don't require one to rethread the harness. The harness has a two-piece chest clip we find easy to use.
The Safety 1st Summit Deluxe High-Back Booster Car Seat has a neutral color scheme in tones of brown micro-suede, and the cover is thickly padded. This car seat has plenty of extras, including a three-position recline, a four-position headrest and pivoting armrests. There is a slide-out cup holder built into the base, and we find it accommodates large diameter cups. One feature we particularly like is the car seat's belt-positioning system. The Summit Deluxe has shoulder belt guides on each side of the seat, and the guides have five positions. This helps ensure a custom fit for children of varying heights.
This car seat can be somewhat difficult to install. And, while our major complaint with the Safety 1st booster car seats has been a lack of EPS foam, we are pleased to discover that is no longer the case. Select models, including the Summit Deluxe High-Back Booster now have an EPS foam lining. It's important to consult the car seat description from the manufacturer; not all Safety 1st booster car seats have EPS lining. Overall, the Safety 1st Summit Deluxe High-Back Booster gets high marks for its comfortable design and the addition of EPS foam.
